What a cool session..or should that be COLD session??

I got to the estuary at about 8.30am and found a strong ENE wind and choppy waters. There was also a swell making its way up through the channel with huge plumes of spray blowing off the tops of the waves.

The wind had created pretty big piles of sand at the entrance to the estuary sands, so I had to park on the road and rig up there. I was soon out with my wave board and 4.5m sail and a bit overpowered, so after a run or so I cranked on some outhaul.

I had a good sail with some nice chop hops. I was also carving around and generally playing on the 1 foot chop which was actually beginning to roll into the beach as little waves just about big enough to do some backside aerials off. If it wasn't for the cold I would have stayed out much longer, but as it was an hour or so was plenty as by then both my hands and face were stinging with the cold and beginning to stop functioning properly!!.. Mind you with a windchill of around -15 degrees C thats not surprising really.

My recent bodged repair on my wave board seemed to hold up OK, although I didn't inspect it properly as I was more concerned about de-rigging and warming my hands up.

My new wetsuit was nice and about 300 times warmer than the crappy Gul suit I've been using for the last year. Its not as flexible, but SO, SO much warmer.
